Gumbo Bottoms Ale House has given me the distinct title of “Artist in Residence.” Becky, their fabulous proprietor, has a record of promoting local artists and I am fortunate to have some of my photography on display at her great establishment. For those who can’t make it in to peer at my work while enjoying an adult beverage at Gumbo’s, here’s a look at the three collections of the pieces currently on display…

The Gordons {family & pets}

Meet the uber-awesome Gordon family! Rebecca and Darren, along with their son Jared, met up with me at some great Jefferson City locations for a family session in early November. The weather cooperated and this family was beyond photogenic! We started our session at the Old Shoe Factory.

Just look at these two! I didn’t even have to prompt them to snuggle up.

We gave the lovebirds a break and snapped this series with Jared.

And some so sweet ones of a great mom and her son!

And here’s the entire family – including Biscuit! What a sweet pup!

We shifted our session to downtown and captured a few images with the capitol in the background before taking advantage of some side allies for a different take.

In case you didn’t eat up enough of Biscuit in the family shots above, here he is alone. Check out those Hollywood poses from this Gordon family cute pooch.

The Walker Family {family}

Raylene and I know each other through the hPYe – the young professionals arm of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce. She has a wonderful smile and a vivacious personality. And it runs in the family! Her children, Alexander, Jameson and Zoe were all smiles for our mini-session in late October where downtown Jefferson City was our backdrop.

We began in the governor’s garden and then moved to Madison Street. I love the image above and the one below left. Zoe and Jameson had the idea to spread out and we took advantage of a fun look with the family staggered.

Raylene’s radiance just shines!

After fun in the leaves, we capped off the session enjoying some great treats at YoYums.

Ken, Kelsey & Lillian {family}

Ken is one of my oldest friends in Jefferson City. We met briefly years ago when he interned at the capitol and I was just starting as a journalist there. A few years later, he returned to Jeff City to run the YMCA’s Youth in Government program that I volunteer with. Needless to say, when we finally decided to forego the commute from Columbia, we had great friends from the start in town with Ken and his lovely wife Kelsey. Since then, they have added adorable Lillian to make three. I joined them the first weekend in October to photograph their family on a great, crisp fall morning.

We started at the capitol grounds and then made our way over to the governor’s garden.

Love those fall leaves! Lillian didn’t need much encouragement to kick and throw them around.

This photo of Ken and Lillian is my favorite from this session.

Lillian is high-energy and I did my best to keep up. Below, I caught her taking a quick rest on a stoop in front of the governor’s mansion. And I love the one of her and Kelsey – such great smiles.

We also spent some time on the beautiful tree-lined Madison Street.

We ended the session with a stroll through downtown…

Gumbo Bottoms {product}

Everyone has a favorite place for happy hour, and Gumbo Bottoms is one of mine. Gumbo’s fabulous proprietor Becky gave me carte blanche to snap away at this product photo shoot where I captured the quenching products and great ambiance they provide their customers.

Gumbo Bottoms is located in the heart of downtown. Here are a few street views of their store front on Madison Street.

The customers were great, too, and allowed me to catch them enjoying happy hour.

Whatever your preference, Gumbo’s has it on hand…

They also have a great assortment of brews, including seasonal specialties.

Wine by the glass or bottle for any aficionado.

And spirits, oh my!
