caticonslite_bm_altTiefenthaler Homestead {family}

We recently had some quality family time visiting my sister and her family at their home in Salem. It was beautiful, cool weather for August and I took the opportunity to grab a few shots of some of their pets and other animals, plus my family catching up on their front porch.

Meet Luke…

My sister Karla also tasked me with capturing Dave, her husband, with his hunting dogs. And both were in good form…Luke is above and veteran Cricket is below.

My dad and Dave caught shooting the breeze while enjoying the breeze on the front porch. And Taffy got in on the action as well. Gotta love Corgi butts(above right)! Below she poses with my nephew Kutter.

I also got my folks to play along. My dad’s impression of a “pancake face” followed by a few happy, smiley shots…

Even the Tiefenthaler’s hogs were photogenic. Gus seemed to be their new best friend, too.

And meet “Naughty Piggy!” She’s the last to survive of her litter and is always begging to be bottle fed. She got her name because everytime you pick her up she throws a fit…such a naughty piggy.

Thanks to my sister for a great weekend visit. Can’t wait til we all can get together again soon!

Chris & Stephanie + Baby {baby bump}

Chris and Stephanie are expecting their first child this summer and I am so excited because they have entrusted me to capture this milestone in their family’s life! I will be documenting their baby boy throughout his first year. To start off, we spent some time at their home and Memorial Park snapping photos of Stephanie’s growing baby bump to record her maternity.

We started in their adorably decorated nursery, ready for when their baby boy arrives in August. They have taken their uber-stylish DIY skills to make the nursery as fabulous as they have with the rest of their house!

Stephanie’s Father’s Day gift to Chris was this wonderful book to make sure her boys will be prepared to do all sorts of fun and dangerous kinds of guy stuff together. And tiny socks, for soon-to-be tiny feet.

At their house I also found a new love for bean bag style furniture. They have a wonderful version of the most comfortable bean bag in the world and, smartly, have kept it around from their college days. It was the perfect place for them to cuddle up under their bay window while I took the next few shots. I love how relaxed and snuggled in they are with the light pouring over them.

This next series is sweet because it was Chris’ idea. When they first started dating in high school (yes-they’re high school sweethearts!) Chris would buy Stephanie those cute black and white cards with a red rose highlighted in the image. So, he brought home a red rose for the photo session, and we snapped a few of their baby bump with the rose.

Our stop at Memorial Park was well worth it, because both the lighting and temperature cooperated with us for some of our best photos from the session.

Stephanie is so pretty and looks fabulous as an expectant mom. I particularly like the last photo (above right) where I caught Stephanie looking off at her husband, Chris, who was out of frame. I also love the image below. And it just so happened there was a national bicycle race passing through town and participants were camping at the park that night – the tents were a great pop of color in the background in this series of shots!

Chris & Stephanie are prepared and ready. I can’t wait for their first baby to become a part of this beautiful, wonderful family!

Chris & Lindsay + Sweet Caroline {baby}

My good friends Chris and Lindsay recently gave birth to their first child – Sweet Caroline. And I couldn’t have had a sweeter, more beautiful baby girl to capture for my first ever Newborn Session. Caroline was just ten days old when we took these images.

Caroline’s great grandma was visiting and we snapped a few shots of them together. She also made the beautiful blanket in the photos we took in the nursery above.

After a bit of fussiness, Caroline settled down for a nap again. I just love her auburn hair and how she put her feet together.

I love how expressive Caroline is in the two photos below on the right. She said “no way” and she means it.

Who knew they made leg warmers for babies! And I love the Dalmations attire – an ode to Lindsay’s favorite movie when she was a child.

Gotta love baby wrinkles!

Chris & Lindsay are incredible parents. Chris is so doting and Lindsay is so intuitive. Caroline is growing fast and I can’t wait for our next session when she is even more active and expressive at 6 months!

Chris & Lindsay + Baby {baby bump}

Chris & Lindsay like surprises – at least when it comes to their first child. Lindsay is due in late May and they have decided to not learn the baby’s gender until he or she enters the world. Lindsay is hoping for a girl. Either way, this soon-to-be little one will have wonderful parents who are anxious for him or her to arrive.

We started in the nursery, decked out in beautiful colors either a boy or girl would love.

Then we moved outside to take advantage of the beautiful spring weather and their lush green lawn.

Next up, Chris joined Lindsay for some leisurely time on their couch. They snuggled up and felt for the baby to kick while I snapped away.

I am so excited for Chris & Lindsay! They have had a big year and I know being new parents will top it off!

caticonslite_bm_altGumbo Bottoms {product}

Everyone has a favorite place for happy hour, and Gumbo Bottoms is one of mine. Gumbo’s fabulous proprietor Becky gave me carte blanche to snap away at this product photo shoot where I captured the quenching products and great ambiance they provide their customers.

Gumbo Bottoms is located in the heart of downtown. Here are a few street views of their store front on Madison Street.

The customers were great, too, and allowed me to catch them enjoying happy hour.

Whatever your preference, Gumbo’s has it on hand…

They also have a great assortment of brews, including seasonal specialties.

Wine by the glass or bottle for any aficionado.

And spirits, oh my!

Be sure to stop by and enjoy your next happy hour, or evening out, at Gumbo Bottoms – one of Jefferson City’s great establishments. Cheers!

Brandon & Melanie + baby {baby bump}

Brandon and Melanie are expecting their first baby this fall. With Melanie inching closer and closer to their due date, they wanted to capture her maternity – in all its glory! So, I met them at their great home in Jefferson City and we started snapping photos on a great fall day.

I love how Melanie’s eyes pop in the next series of images. She is a beautiful expecting mom!

I love the shot above I caught as these soon-to-be parents were walking through their backyard. Melanie had the idea for the photo below. The little pumpkin is so cute, and gives a great point of reference for just how big her baby bump was!

The series above was on their front steps. I especially like the bottom right where Melanie’s bump is peaking out. The series below is in a dry creek bed behind their house.

A big thank you to Karen and Mike, Melanie’s parents, who connected us!

Richard, Susan & Miller {family & pets}

My dear friends Richard and Susan wanted to take some updated family pictures in the midst of fall. Task number one was to include Miller, their lovable dog. Miller was all smiles, while their idyllic home and West Main neighborhood served as the perfect setting for their photo shoot.

Miller loved the attention and even showed off some of her skills in the backyard.

After Miller tuckered out, we gave her a respite and snapped these of Richard and Susan in front of their great home. Love that picket fence and peak! And not to mention their great smiles and obvious love for one another!

We ended the session with a stroll up to the corner shop that had the most beautiful collection of fall mums in bloom. The fading sun and warm colors from the mums scream fall. The last image, my favorite – adorned their holiday cards.

Thank you Richard and Susan for letting me spend an afternoon in the fall with you!

caticonslite_bm_altThe Henderson Family {extended family}

It was brisk for September, but the MU Campus was still an awesome backdrop to capture all of the Henderson family who were in need of some updated family photos. They wanted to include both their grown children as well as their families. So we met up on the steps at Jesse Hall and had some fun while wishing away the rain clouds.

Tom and Sandra have a beautiful family.

They are the proud parents of Scott(left photo) and Susan(right photo). Scott is married to Emily and Susan is married to Richard.

Tom & Sandra are also the proud grandparents of identical twins Elise and Olivia.

We had lots of fun, especially the girls – from Thomas Jefferson’s statute, to climbing a tree, to a race around a column…

The girls pounced when I suggested they get their grandpa’s nose!

We also made sure to get photos of both Scott and Susan with their dad and mom individually.

It was great to spend the day capturing photos of this loving family at their favorite alma mater! Thank you to the Hendersons (and Moores)!

caticonslite_bm_altChris + Lindsay {engaged!}

Chris and Lindsay are so in love, and it shows in their photos I captured this spring in Jefferson City where they will settle once they marry in August. The couple dressed dapper for our first series of photos in Lindsay’s backyard. And as the session progressed, their love and playfulness only showed more!

I love Lindsay’s sweet, but mischievous glances to Chris in this next series.

Va va voom! Look at that dip!

The sweethearts slipped into some more casual clothes and we ventured over to the governor’s garden and the landing to take advantage of the spring blooms as a beautiful backdrop.

I love how intimate they were in the next few shots, letting me sneak a peak while they whisper “sweet nothings” and steal kisses.

A quick stop by one of the fountains in front of the capitol was next. Fortunately, Lindsay stayed dry!

We next skipped over the few blocks to the newly revitalized Old Munichburg section of town.

We ended our day at the Welcome Inn, a great little corner bar in Old Munichburg where the couple spent many of their early outings getting know each other while battling at shuffleboard.

Here’s to happily ever after!
